Pulp Mill

Pulp Mill

The Company has developed plans to build a plantation-based bleached kraft pulp mill to be located in the Bell Bay Industrial Zone in northern Tasmania, adjacent to the Company’s existing wood fibre operations.

The rationale for the mill project is to leverage Gunns’ existing sustainable fibre resource into higher value-added products. The pulp mill will have 100% plantation feedstock from start up.

The global outlook for pulp (especially in the Asian region) is favourable and Gunns has a freight cost advantage in delivering product into Asia over its international peers (a majority of whom are based in South America).

Entally

Entally

Entally House, located just outside Launceston, has been an important part of Tasmania’s history, built in 1819 by Thomas Reibey II, son of Mary Reibey, who is featured on the Australian twenty dollar note.

Maintaining the unique, colonial architecture of heritage-listed Entally is expensive; Gunns has invested significantly in its upkeep since becoming the custodian in 2005. Visitors can look forward to seeing the house restored to its former glory over the coming years.

Entally is of great interest for tourists but it is also a very important community facility. Thirty volunteers generously donate their time and energy to preserve this heritage-listed property.

Local artists from the Launceston Art Society showcase their artworks there and a number of annual events are run for the community.
